Boston 4th Alarm 133 South Street : Boston Firefighters continue their battle with fires and hot weather as they responded to a 4 alarm fire at 133 South Street in Jamaica Plain about 10am on Tuesday July 13, 2010. Five Firefighters sustained burns, cuts and other injuries requiring them to be transported to local hospitals. None of the injuries are life threatening. All occupants of the house escaped unharmed but some cats could not be rescued. One cat that was rescued hid underneath a car in front of the building which I photographed and is included in the gallery.

Marlborough 8th Alarm 173 Main Street : Marlborough Firefighters battled an intense 8 alarm fire at 173 Main Street in the downtown section this afternoon. The building was a 4 story wood with stores on the first floor and apartments on the upper floors. During the exterior attack, the building completely collapsed but no injuries resulted. At least 12 people are left homeless. The State Fire Marshal is on the scene and Marlborough was assisted by several communities at the fire.

Newton 3rd Alarm 261 Derby Street : An alert Waltham Police Officer spotted a house fire about 5:30am this morning at 261 Derby Street in Newton right on the city line. Officer Tony Schocolne notified dispatch who in turn called Newton Fire. The officer successfully evacuated the residents just as propane tanks under the front porch exploded. Tow cats were found alive by Firefighters about 7am, 90 minutes into the fire, as they began to re-initiate and interior attack. One bystander was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

Boston L3 Haz Mat 2635 Beacon St : Boston and Newton Firefighters responded to 2635 Beacon Street in front of Boston College for a Level 3 Hazardous Materials Incidents. A 24' box truck carrying assorted flammable gases including hydrogen, propane and chlorine tanks. The operator smelled what he believed to be chlorine and pulled his truck over calling 911. Two buildings at Boston College and several homes in the area were evacuated as a precaution. No injuries were reported and the Boston FD Haz Mat Team was able to secure the leak.

Boston 9th Alarm 483 Beacon Street : Boston Firefighters battled record temperatures in the low 90s as well as an intense alarm fire at 483 Beacon Street in the Back Bay about 2pm on Wednesday April 7, 2010. The fire was on the 7th floor of a 10 story, 69 unit apartment building that was originally a hotel when built in 1895. Narrow staircases, smoke and heat required Firefighters to shelter occupants in place above the fire floor until is was safe to remove them from the building. 5 injuries including 3 Firefighters were treated.

One vehicle rear ended another that appeared to have stopped suddenly at a traffic light. A patient had set his bed on fire and attempted to flee but was immediately apprehended by authorities. The 1st and 2nd floors sustained significant water damage from the sprinkler system.

Brookline 2nd Alarm 82 Evans Road 2/16/2010 : Brookline Firefighters responded to a report of a house fire at 82 Evans Road just after 11:30am on Tuesday February 16, 2010. Fire was determined to be the result of plumbers torches on the 2nd floor. Two Firefighters were transported to local hospitals with non life threatening injuries. Waltham 3rd Alarm Box 142 47 Chestnut Street 01/15/09 : A 3 alarm fire in Waltham, MA caused heavy damage to 4 condominium units at 47 Chestnur Street about 9am. The fire was gas fed and quickly spread to the 2nd floor and attic of the 100x30 buildings. Reports state that the Gas Company was working in the building and then began to evacuate residents. One person was transported for smoke inhalation and that fire caused over $1.5 million in damages.
