Marlborough Firefighters battled an intense 8 alarm fire at 173 Main Street in the downtown section this afternoon. The building was a 4 story wood with stores on the first floor and apartments on the upper floors. During the exterior attack, the building completely collapsed but no injuries resulted. At least 12 people are left homeless. The State Fire Marshal is on the scene and Marlborough was assisted by several communities at the fire.
